2005, Ljubljana - 9th E.D.E. European Congress
Topics of the congress will emphasize the inter-dependence of four important factors: the professional field, the field of organisation, of economy and of policy-making and will look into possibilities of how to achieve progress with goodmeasured, coordinated c hanges in all of these fields. That is why the title of the congress is 'Director as a tightrope walker'. We have to balance between new demands of gerontology and clients, restrictions of our governments, insurance companies and owners; we have to deal with local and wider policy, media and often change organisation of work.
2003, Paris - 8th E.D.E. European Congress
Two directors' organisations, ADEHPA and FNADEPA, worked together to organise the 8th EDE Congress in Paris. For theme it had "How does the manager assure the rights of older citizens? Citizen's rights and Steps to quality in Residential and Nursing Homes". It looked into questions of the Resident, a citizen in every sense of the word, as an actor of the Home. How do citizen's rights impose steps to quality? How does the manager ssure citizenship and handicap, citizen's rights and the right to take risks. And finally, how does the manager assure the right to choose, living at home or in an institution and the rights of confused older persons.
